Dear Ms. Smith:
I am applying for the Process Engineer position advertised through Philadelphia University on October 3, 2000. I will graduate in May 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering, and have a special interest in technical processes and quality control. I am confident that this position fits very well with my education, experience and career interests.
I have had extensive experience analyzing and evaluating technical production processes. For example, while working as an intern at Fiber Concepts, Inc., I was involved on a Government-sponsored project to improve the development and production of chemical resistant apparel products. Working with various testing equipment and conducting research trials that were subsequently published with the study, I developed an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the importance of efficiency and product quality in manufacturing processes. Also, in my position as intern in the Quality Control department of Newtex Industries, I frequently assisted in the evaluation and subsequent troubleshooting of fabric production for fire-resistant apparel. I strongly feel that this experience, combined with my advanced academic studies in textile testing and process improvement, make me an ideal candidate for a Process Engineering position within your company.
Enclosed, please find my resume for your review. I will call you within the next two weeks to further discuss my qualifications and the possibility of employment with Monroe & Company. Please also feel free to contact me at (215) 849-0000 or by email at Engineer2@philau.edu with any questions.
Sincerely,
Karen T. Engineer
