How to write good resume

Resume definition:
A resume is a written document that lists your work experience, skills, and educational background. It is used as a marketing tool for job seekers.

The contents of the resume is not something that contains the application that you control, employee personnel documents, and certainly not about confession.

A good resume is one that get results. The purpose of a resume is to obtain interviews and to get a job. All the effort spent to write a good resume is decent and the tips below will help you write resumes that get results.
1. Formatting for results
The format of the resume is very important and provide the necessary information, easy to read in sequence. The use of underlining, italics, bold, and all topics to guide employers through the resume with ease. Consistency is key when developing a resume and help make the information on a simple resume for employers to read. 

2. Start by including your personal information. Employers want to know the name, address, telephone number, and email address on the top of the first page of your resume.
3. Includes one objective or qualifications summary is optional.
Objective (optional) can help identify the position you are applying. Summary of Qualifications (optional) can offer a list of your skills and achievements right at the beginning of your resume. 

4. Marketing yourself.
Be sure to first list the most relevant experience related to the internship or job you are applying. You can give the title of this part of the relevant experience, Business Experience, Leadership Experience, etc.
Keep the consistency of your resume by giving you information in a format that is consistent and logical use bold, italics, and capital letters to emphasize headings and important information. Avoid using several different fonts in a resume. 

5. Use Action Verbs to describe your responsibilities and achievements.
Make a work report which effectively highlights your abilities and your achievements will make you a strong resume and make a good impression with the employer. By including only the relevant information with details sufficient to demonstrate your skills, you will give your attention to details along with your ability to communicate and organize your thoughts.

6. Enter all the relevant Education, Honors, Degrees, & Certification.
When applying for internships Education, Honors, and Awards place at the beginning of your resume and would move to end once you've developed some professional experience. If you are a student, education will become the first major category. 

7. Prepare several resumes
Be prepared to change your resume based on the position in which you are applying. You may choose to change the information provided or you may just change the order in which you present the information.

8.  Maintain white space
Try to keep the margin to 1 "all around the edge of the resume and cover a distance of some of the resume to give a professional appearance. 

9. Focus on the qualifications of the position and needs of employers
Be sure to include the certifications, achievements, volunteer, internship, work experience and specialized skills such as computers, foreign languages, etc. 

10. Try to keep it to one page. One page is enough. One page if you have been in the workforce for ten years or more or if you have extensive laboratory experience or publications, two pages may be necessary. Be sure to include your name and page 2 at the top of the second page of the resume. Do not staple and avoid folding if possible. Use laser bond paper and you can select the appropriate # 10 envelope or a large 9 "x 12" envelope.

11. Review the whole format and how to proceed appear visually.
After you enter all the information and have been checked for consistency and format, consider whether your resume is looking good and if it is professional. Overall look and appeal of the resume will provide employers with your first impression as an applicant.

12. Correcting.
There is no room for mistakes of grammar and / or spelling in a resume. Do whatever is necessary to ensure that your document is really perfect. You will not get a second chance to create a good impression if you send a resume that includes an error.

When an email is sent during a job search, there are a number of mistakes that can be made. It is important to check for certain things before you actually send the resume off to your prospective employer. Once an email is written and you press the send button in some email programs you are given one more chance to make sure everything is OK with spell check and in other email programs your message is sent. You only get one shot at sending an email.


First impressions everything when you are looking for a job. If you have mistakes on your initial email your chances of even getting an interview will be greatly reduced. Like every other form of formal communication there is a certain etiquette that needs to be followed when sending an email for a job search. The danger with sending out emails is that we become relaxed and fall into the habits of sending an informal email. This is because people send out so many emails to friends each day. They pick up certain habits that just come naturally while writing an email.


Never write in broken English! We sometimes write as if we're writing an SMS message in an email. This would be highly unprofessional in a job application. Double check your spelling and grammar! When writing an email relying only on the spell check is dangerous because most programs are not 100% accurate. A word spelled correctly in the wrong place might not get flagged. Reread your mail just to be sure.


Do not waffle! Keep your email short and to the point. These people who read your resume, of which could be one of hundreds, are extremely busy, so do not waste their time. This will be appreciated and could earn you some extra points. Leave you contact information! Always leave a signature at the end of the email with all the necessary contact information. Make it as easy as possible for the employer to contact you.


Make sure the title of the job is in the email! Write the job title as the subject of the email unless otherwise instructed so that the person reading your email knows exactly what you are responding to.
